Overview
The Sunmeter Pro Bifacial Irradiance Sensor represents a significant leap forward in solar energy measurement technology. This advanced albedometer combines two high-performance digital photovoltaic pyranometers in a single, compact unit. Designed specifically for the growing market of bifacial photovoltaic systems, this sensor provides unparalleled accuracy in measuring both incoming and reflected solar radiation.
Innovative Design
At its core, the Sunmeter Pro Bifacial consists of two Sunmeter Pro photovoltaic pyranometers arranged in opposition. The upward-facing sensor captures incoming global solar radiation, while the downward-facing sensor measures reflected radiation. This dual-sensor configuration allows for precise calculation of solar albedo – a critical factor in assessing the performance of bifacial PV modules.
Advanced Technology
Each sensor incorporates a monocrystalline silicon cell, laminated with high-quality glass and E.V.A., mimicking the construction of a miniature PV module. This design ensures that the sensor’s response closely matches that of actual solar panels, providing more relevant data than traditional thermopile pyranometers. The inclusion of TZOS® technology further enhances measurement accuracy.
Unmatched Precision
The Sunmeter Pro Bifacial boasts exceptional accuracy, with a measurement tolerance of less than ±2% for irradiance and ±0.5°C for temperature. To maintain this high level of precision, each unit undergoes rigorous calibration against a PV reference cell at the DAKKS-accredited ISFH institute. Furthermore, the product includes a free recalibration service after one year of use, demonstrating the manufacturer’s commitment to long-term accuracy.
Versatile Output Options
Available in two models, the Sunmeter Pro Bifacial caters to diverse monitoring needs. The “complete model” offers both analog and digital outputs, while an alternative version provides digital output only. The digital interface utilizes the RS485 standard with Modbus RTU protocol, ensuring reliable signal transmission over distances up to 500 meters.
Durability and Longevity
Engineered for longevity, the Sunmeter Pro Bifacial undergoes additional stabilization processes to minimize measurement drift over time. The sensor demonstrates a performance decline of less than 1.5% per year, ensuring consistent and reliable data over extended periods. Its robust construction meets IEC EN 61215 standards for product aging, guaranteeing resilience in harsh outdoor environments.
Easy Integration
Designed with user-friendliness in mind, the Sunmeter Pro Bifacial is compatible with most data loggers and monitoring systems. Its plug-and-play nature, combined with included mounting brackets, facilitates quick and easy installation in both new and existing solar installations.
Accessories
- Temmeter
- USB/RS485 interface cable
- USB/MICRO-USB smartphone adapter
- Sm configuration for Android smartphone and tabletSMCONFIG allows you to configure Sunmeter in the field from your Android smartphone. It is no longer necessary to bring the Sunmeter back to the laboratory for configuration. The software allows you to:
- configure Sunmeter.
- make a diagnosis of the basic functions.
- log irradiance, temperature and wind (Sunmeter Wind only) readings.
The software is available for free on this page in the downloads area. In addition to the software it is necessary to have a USB / RS485 converter, an adapter cable between microUSB/USB and a female connector M12 4 pin for Sunmeter.
In the Download area you can find a wiring diagram of our cable that connects Smartphone/Tablet or PC with the irradiance sensor, it takes and transforms the voltage present on the USB (Price on request). Alternatively, it is possible to use other cables with external power supply (9V battery).
